Gearhead RPTandem and freestyle drifting.
GTA 6 drift servers put car control at the forefront of gameplay. Touge routes through mountain passes in Vice City, parking-lot tandem battles, and weekly server-hosted drift competitions make up the majority of the scene. Top servers edit handling files for realistic drift physics — counter-steer feedback, weight transfer, tyre heat — so vehicles handle like actual drift cars rather than power-slide arcade racers. You'll probably spend more time perfecting one corner than crossing the map.
The drift scene can be broken into two groups: solo practice servers and tandem-orientated communities. Practice servers have fewer players, predefined tracks and a shorter car list, which makes them perfect for quietly grinding your skill. Tandem communities tend to be more talkative, have stricter cars-per-player limits and have queue systems for when you're ready for matched tandem runs. If you're new to drifting, begin by learning on practice servers with one or two cars until you can comfortably hold a sustained slide, then find a tandem community.
Tandem battles require stable ticks. Our hosting partner GTA6Hosting.net provides GTA 6 drift server hosting using bare-metal nodes optimised for high-tickrate driving servers.

Asphalt RPReal drift servers adjust the handling files. They use custom drift physics, fine-tune tyre grip and weight distribution for each car, and ban meta-breaking cars. They disallow use of the pit lane for racing lines, make players wait out a cool-down between runs, and have admins who recognise what a clutch kick actually is. Freeroam servers that have a 'drift mode' option usually just disable traction control on stock vehicles — good for casual sliding, useless for learning how to drift.
There are no written rules for tandem drifting, but there are guidelines everyone follows. The lead car establishes the line and pace; the follow car matches them without passing. Don't push your lead too far ahead of the follow car's ability. If you spin out, drive back to the start yourself instead of resetting mid-run. Don't join the line of cars waiting to tandem if you can't link three corners cleanly. The scene polices itself with reputation, and a couple of bad sessions will keep you out of the lobbies that count.
A GTA 6 drift server is a community centred around vehicle control gameplay - solo practice runs, tandem battles, and organised competitions. They usually have custom-tuned physics to allow realistic drifting instead of arcade-style drift.
No. Most GTA 6 drift servers are full of controller and keyboard players. A wheel helps consistency on long touge runs but you don't need it to be competitive.
A touge is a point-to-point run on a winding road, typically done alone or against the clock. Tandem drifting consists of two cars sliding through corners together — lead and follow — with the follow car matching the lead's line without passing.
Some cars are too powerful for the drift physics or ruin the meta. Servers ban cars so the field stays competitive and lobbies fair. Car bans are typically listed in the server rules or posted on Discord.
Some RP servers host car meets that include drift segments. However, these servers typically run on generic physics tuning. If you want to practise drifting and work on tandems, look for a server designed specifically for drifting.
Pick a car, pick a corner. Run that corner until you can hold the slide cleanly five times in a row. Now pick another corner. Most new drifters out there switch cars and tracks too soon and never develop muscle memory.
Most server competitions are head-to-head bracket style, where judges score according to angle, line and proximity. Some competitions offer point-system events where single runs are scored. Rules vary for each server - please read the competition thread before competing.
