Custom cars, maps, and gameplay mods.
Modded GTA 6 servers will have additional content not included in the base game: custom cars, custom maps, new weapons, scripted events, weather systems, animation packs, anything the modding community can create. Successful modded servers will keep curated mod lists overseen by an art-direction lead, so that the additions have a cohesive feel rather than being "just a bunch of asset dumps". This is much like how the FiveM servers ecosystem has functioned for years. Joining a modded server will download that server's mod pack the first time you connect.
Modded servers can be of two flavours: gameplay-focused or content-focused. Gameplay-focused mods alter how the game feels and plays - this can include new car physics, custom mission frameworks, entirely new economy systems etc. Content-focused mods add new items to drive and look at - new cars, outfits, map extensions, lighting overhauls. Both kinds are completely legitimate; many roleplay servers have their own mod pack to enhance the experience, as do plenty of freeroam servers. It's best to check what a server's mods actually change before joining.

GOPLAY PK - MINECRAFT SURVIVAL SERVERConnecting to a modded server for the first time will prompt you to download its content, typically between 2 and 15 GB depending on the mods the server is using. The mod pack is stored in your local cache and updates automatically whenever the server does. Keep in mind that your disk usage will increase if you connect to multiple modded servers, so ensure you have enough disk space if you plan on hopping between them.
Mods become outdated when the actual game gets updated. Modded servers will often go offline for hours, if not days, after a big GTA 6 update while the modders update their packs. Servers typically have their own Discord, so join it to follow along with updates. If you try to play on a server with outdated mods, you will experience game crashes, missing assets, and loss of progress. The best modded servers will clearly communicate timeframes for when their updates will be completed.
Modded servers host custom content in addition to what's provided in the base game, such as cars, maps, scripts, weather systems and gameplay adjustments. The custom content downloads to your computer when you join a modded server.
Established modded servers are generally safe to join. Make sure the server has existed for a few months at least, has active moderators, and is running a public mod pack. New modded servers you know nothing about are riskier.
Expect downloads of 2-15 GB upon initial connection. After that, downloads will be smaller — ranging from 50-500 MB depending on the update. If you plan on joining multiple modded servers, be sure to check your available storage beforehand.
Occasionally. Large mod packs add VRAM and CPU load. If you run a mid-tier PC, choose servers running curated mod lists with established performance budgets instead of kitchen-sink modded servers.
Modded servers implement their own layer of anti-cheat separate from what Rockstar provides. Joining a modded server is okay — you'll still be able to play on unmodded servers and in singleplayer as normal afterwards.
Most servers have a mod-request channel in their Discord. Whether or not your request gets accepted depends on the server's art direction and performance budget. Don't expect every request to pan out, but requests with good reasoning behind them often get accepted.
