Police RP servers build the city around law enforcement. Players join the Vice City PD, work patrol shifts, respond to dispatch, conduct traffic stops, and run investigations on organised crime. Strong police RP servers run with realistic protocols — Miranda rights, evidence chain, court RP for major cases. The good ones partner with criminal RP players to build storylines that span months, not just single arrests.
Joining a server's police force usually means going through an academy. Academy RP teaches you the server's specific protocols, radio etiquette, traffic stop procedures, and use-of-force rules. Most academies run for 1-2 weeks of real time before you're cleared for solo patrol. Skipping academy gets you flagged as the player who doesn't follow protocol, which becomes everyone's problem in a high-stakes scene.

Maybe 10% of shifts include a high-stakes scenario. Players who join expecting constant shootouts burn out fast. The players who stay enjoy the procedural rhythm — paperwork, partner banter, the long buildup before a real arrest. Police RP rewards patience more than reflexes.
The strongest police RP servers run on cooperation between LEO and criminal RP players. Both sides need each other for storylines to function. The best players in both communities communicate OOC about long-form arcs — investigations that take months, undercover operations, takedowns that build over weeks. Servers without this cooperation feel like cops vs robbers; servers with it feel like a real city.

Detective characters investigate cases beyond patrol scope — homicide, organised crime, narcotics. Most servers gate detective slots behind extensive police RP experience and require investigation write-ups for major cases.
It's mostly procedural. If you want constant action, police RP isn't the right fit. If you enjoy partner dynamics, slow-build investigations, and the rhythm of patrol, it's some of the most rewarding RP available.
Major cases — homicide, organised crime, large-scale drug busts — usually go through court RP on serious servers. Player attorneys, judges, and juries (often admin-played) work the case. Court RP is rare on casual servers.
